MMI Into the Future (ITF) is a flagship event of MMI Malaysia, and MMI ITF 2.0 was led by Chao WingShin, Ong Jen Sze and Hans William. This event aimed to bridge the gap in knowledge between completion of medical studies and doctorship and to prepare medical students for life after medical school by providing insights on housemanship and specialities within the medical field. A total of 109 participants joined the event, along with 12 committee members and volunteers. 265 standard tickets and a total of 73 early bird package tickets were sold.
Participants were exposed to the various specialities available after medical school, and the event also touched on topics such as Life as a Houseman and a Medical Officer. This offers participants a bias-free picture of the realities of post-medical school. Other speciality pathways that participants had the opportunity to get to know about were Oncology, Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, Paediatrics, Endocrinology, General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. This has allowed medical students or medical graduates to be familiar and gain interest in these various pathways and insights towards future undertakings.

MMI Doctors Beyond Clinics
1 May 2021 - 15 May 201
MMI Doctors Beyond Clinics is a 3-week long online campaign consisting of a series of webinars, infographics and social media engagement activities that aimed to introduce medical students into the field of advocacy and policy and allow medical students to have a better understanding of public health.
The campaign was started by a keynote from Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman, addressing the various methods to conduct advocacy projects and ways to improve the delivery of messages across to have a greater impact. Throughout the month of May, a series of infographics regarding advocacy and public health had been put up on MMI’s social media to consolidate some of the important points addressed by the speakers during the webinars.
As the event’s name denoted - doctors beyond clinics, the committee team hope that this project had been able to spark the interest of the medical students in advocacy and showed the students the path how they can contribute to a formation of a more robust healthcare system than just being a doctor.
