Our advocacy is about effecting changes at the level of policy by taking actions from organizing campaigns to active participation in policymaking.

With advocacy, comes policies.

  1. To lead advocacy at Malaysian Medics International (MMI).

  2. To conduct policy studies which are relevant to advocacy priorities and themes at MMI.

Priorities

Through a lengthy advocacy study undertaken from late 2019 to early 2020, we have identified three key primary priorities that are applicable across all Branch Councils.

 

Priority One

Empowerment of Medical Community with Positivism

We encourage culture of acceptance, empathy, and supportive environment within our community for good mental health and general wellness.

Priority Two

Inclusivity and Equity in Medical Education

We acknowledge and pay respect to diverse community of people within the healthcare community and reject any form of discrimination.

Priority Three

Reform for Quality and Holistic Medical Education

We affirm our stand for standardised national curriculum to ensure quality and holistic medical education in certain sector of medical training.

Humans of Medicine

This is our key effort to connect our diverse community of medical students with key figures who excel beyond the field of medicine with aim to cultivate the ideal of work-life balance.

 Initiatives

Initiatives are our mini taskforce consisting of members from different councils. Each initiative is led by one taskforce director and they report to the Advocacy Director. MMI is committed to a 3-year global strategic plan for advocacy and these initiatives will help in strategising and planning.

We support and enable culture of positivism in our community of students and junior doctors through reaffirming culture of acceptance, empathy, and supportive environment.
