Malaysian Medical Summit 2018
Inception
We dreamt of forging a Malaysian medical community that had seamless, transparent cohesion from bottom to top. This was how Malaysian Medical Student Summit (MMSS) came about 4 years ago.
Today, the attendees from the first MMSS in 2014 have graduated and are currently going through housemanship, but they remain part of our audience. It became apparent that the way forward was to cater beyond medical students, and to bring forth pre-medical students, doctors, healthcare professionals, and policy consultants and decision makers to the same congregation.
On 18 & 19 August 2018, for the first time, MMI hosted the Malaysian Medical Summit, carrying the theme The Bigger Picture.

We are not just born to accept the status quo. Just because things have always been done this way, doesn't mean it cannot be better.
Our Program
“It is my hope that as we discuss The Bigger Picture as a theme in the next two days, you will be reminded of the role each one of us play in our community - this includes your family, your school, your workplace. We can all learn to live a little more purposefully, and become more mindful in exploring ways to empower our community.”

“What does it mean to look at The Bigger Picture? I have been involved in planning the summit since its inception in 2014 and I have had a dream for many years now. I want to bring the all Malaysian doctors together. Malaysian Healthcare has its signification share of success and challenges. We openly boast the success, but we do not discuss the challenges as openly. This is what I hope to address through the 2018 Malaysian Medical Summit. We may not have answers to the problems, we did not design the summit to solve problems, but rather we want to get people to start talking.“
