Primary Care is the first point of contact and continuing care for patients with any health condition within the healthcare system, and also coordinates with other specialists that the patient may need. In primary care, lifestyle modification is vital in the prevention and treatment of illnesses with or without medical treatment though there is a lack of awareness of lifestyle modification among the communities. In times of the COVID - 19 pandemic, primary care has played and currently still playing a huge role in the management of patients. Even so, medical students in Malaysia have little knowledge of the system of primary care and its role in the public healthcare system.
Hence, MMI Insight into Primary Care aims to educate medical students on the system of primary care in Malaysia and the importance of a good patient-doctor relationship, and the role played by primary care during the COVID - 19 pandemics. This event also aims to discuss the importance of lifestyle modification and medical therapy in the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses.
