Mental Health

Term 2019/2020

The Beginning

It all begins with an idea towards changing the landscape of mental health in Malaysia, particularly within the medical fraternity. With the establishment of the Advocacy Office in the Executive Council of the term 2019/2020, MMI acknowledges that mental health issues is on the rise. Hence, MMI advocates for a positive mental health culture and environment.

Our Policies

Intimate Partner Violence

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a pervasive and serious public health issue which is often being overlooked by many of us here in Malaysia. As a representative body of medical students and junior doctors across six different countries, we aim to affect changes at the level of policymaking through our recommendations and call of actions to address this pressing public health issue.

It is with great honour that we humbly present to you the policy to tackle the issue of IPV from the point of view of medical students and junior doctors.

Access to Mental Health Services

Accessibility to mental health services in Malaysia is an urgent matter to be looked into at the current times of crisis. We believe that the current healthcare system is inadequate and inefficient to address the burgeoning issue of mental health in the community.

Thus, we present to you the first Mental Health policy by MMI towards advocating for better accessibility for mental health services, regardless of age, gender and geographical locations.
