MMI X Kalsom Care My Colorectum
According to the statistics by Globocan in 2020, colorectal cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in Malaysia in both males and females. Colon cancer ranked fourth and rectal cancer ranked seventh in the highest cause of cancer death. These statistics are alarming, as with the availability of the screening tests, the fact that colorectal cancer ranked as one of the highest mortality rates among Malaysian reflects the low level of awareness in the community. MMI strongly believes that effort of increasing awareness should be done at any time of the year, not bound to only the month of March where Colorectal Awareness Month falls on. Hence, this initiative will be conducted from the 16th of May 2021 till the 18th of June 2021.
What do we aim to achieve?
MMI X Kalsom Care My Colorectum aims to educate the public on the importance of early colorectal cancer screening and what can be done to do so. Through this program, we also wish to invite colorectal cancer survivor patients to share their experience while fighting with colorectal cancer.
Besides, this initiative also aims to raise a total of RM 3000 fund from the public through Donation Drive by forming the collaboration with The Kalsom Movement and partnership with Small Changes, Big Differences.
Through this donation drive, all funds will be channeled to three organizations equally which provide care and support to colorectal cancer patients in Malaysia. Our beneficiaries for this drive are:
EMPOWERED : The Cancer Advocacy Society of Malaysia
National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM)
National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA)
