Do you know that 30% of Malaysians have suffered from some form of mental illness? (National Health & Morbidity Survey, 2015). Inevitably, healthcare workers who are working on the frontlines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic might be experiencing similar problems. This is worrying as mental health awareness among both healthcare workers and the general public is still in its infancy in Malaysia.
Today, mental health conditions are being discussed all around the world and it is becoming ever more prominent. There are different policies and services in the handling of mental health conditions among healthcare workers in different countries. The question here is: are they effective? How should we, as medical students or doctors, play our part in tackling mental health conditions especially in the healthcare sector?
MMI is bringing you a Panel Discussion titled “Malaysia & UK: Mental Health among Healthcare Workers” to talk about the mental health policies in Malaysia and UK by our honoured speakers, Dr Ananta Dave, Dr Hazli B. Zakaria and Dr Mark Tan Kiak Min. Join us this Saturday on the 15th of May to know more about it.
