Sink or Swim: Doctors’ Burnout Reduction

Burnout is nature’s way of telling you, you’ve been going through the motions.” -Sam Keen.

Burnout is no stranger in everyone’s lives. It creeps in when no one’s looking because it hits us when we are busy and stressed. Like pain, burnout affects people differently and one’s burnout threshold should NOT be compared to another. ‘Ignore it’, they say. ‘It’ll pass’, they say. But is that wise?

Today, burnout has been more prevalent and is often heard particularly among healthcare workers. We hear about burnout, we experience burnout, but do we actually know what it entails? Is experiencing burnout equivalent to being weak? What are the causes that lead to it? How does one overcome it? How does one PREVENT it? Most importantly, what is being done for healthcare workers who are facing burnout? Are they a lost cause?

MMI is bringing you a Panel Discussion entitled ‘Sink or Swim: Doctors’ Burnout Reduction’ to address this topic more closely by honourable panellists, experts in the mental health field. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be more informed about burnout as we will share with you a doctor’s firsthand encounter on burnout as well.
