We, the doctors of tomorrow must take the first step, to shape our next decade with a common goal in mind, to improve the healthcare system in Malaysia — for a better tomorrow.

It’s 2020, the beginning of a new decade! Let’s kick start our journey as we now stand at the beginning of a new decade.

“Shaping Our Next Decade”. What comes into the minds of us prospective doctors when we see this phrase? It means to reflect back on all the medical challenges that have surfaced in the past, the policy changes to all HOs and MOs, effects of political transformation on our healthcare system and the striving to improve our Malaysian healthcare system to become one of the world’s best health systems.

In my opinion, upon reflection, I think that there are a few major issues that have arisen in recent years, the most recent one being the Covid-19 outbreak - a global pandemic which has not only burdened all the healthcare professionals working as front-liners for the country but also put the global economy at stake. Not to forget the introduction of the contract system that has brought up many conflicting opinions among young doctors - with some endorsing it while some resent it. In light of all the uncertainties and challenges that have creeped out along the years, I am committed to joining the organising committee of Malaysian Medical Summit (MMS) 2020, with the goal of uniting all Malaysian doctors, regardless of race, medical background or specialty and political beliefs.

We, the doctors of tomorrow must take the first step, to shape our next decade with a common goal in mind, to improve the healthcare system in Malaysia — for a better tomorrow.

As part of the MMS 2020 committee, I would like all Malaysian Medics to be well-informed on the issues that are currently plaguing our healthcare system. Only then can we join forces to brainstorm for effective solutions and strive for a better healthcare system in Malaysia.

Now, you must be wondering how do we as medics play a role in this daunting task? Easy! Simply join us this 8th and 9th of August via Zoom. In this summit, get an insight into these issues by interacting and listening to opinions and talks from our renowned speakers!
